Outside decorations - Christmas 2010

Once again, Christmas has come and gone...but only in the decorations.   May the spirit of what we have been given by our savior live in our hearts all year.

I don't know how to slow down now...I was in such a work mode up unitl Christmas lunch!  Wow!

Here are some pictures of our outside decorations
Those poinsettias did not last long....one night I forgot to bring them inside the frost got them!! Too much cold this year already in North Florida.

Love decorating this for the seasons.   Time to come up with a new theme.

Enjoyed these this year.....but with all the wind they could be found scattered among the hedges daily when I arrived home!  I finally gave up - stacked them up to add weight and placed them in the corner by the side entrance door.

Even my little shed gets a wreath!! - Don't look at how badly the fence needs to be painted and how bad the grass looks right now! :-)

What we have been up to

WOW!  Fall 2010 is flying by.   Christmas will be here soon....so much to do!!

Did a little Christmas shopping on Veteran's Day  - when Clint and I visited Jacob and Ashley in Jacksonville.  Daryl had to work, but we thought about him while we enjoyed the day.  We ate dinner at Mellow Mushroom (first time for me and Clint to eat there).

Football kept us busy......Clint's team won their conference championship.....and made it to third round play-offs against Winter Park....we lost - the weekend before Thanksgiving.  These boys played hard, and this was quite an accomplishment.  I am so proud of them, and Clint had a great year.   This may be his last year of football.   He played on this team to do a favor to a friend...but what a great season he had.

I made Thanksgiving Dinner for my parents, and our little family.  My nephew joined us - but my brother went out of town - North Carolina (lucky)....we missed him.   I made Turkey, cornbread dressing (my mom's recipe - which is simply the best in my book), mashed potatoes, gravy, macaroni and cheese, green beans, and rolls.  I made Chocolate Delight for desert and we had Pecan Pie (I purchased at Cracker Barrel)...hey I am a working woman, I can't make everything from scratch :-)

Speaking of working woman....I have been flooded at work.  I changed positions again....this is the second change for me since August....but it is all good....actually a long time employee retired, and I assumed most of her duties, on top of the projects my old office insisted no one else could complete.     Long days, no time to think about much - - which is not good, because I have so much to think about this time of year.....baking, Christmas cards....decorating, shopping.  I have managed to get the house decorated, and a little shopping in.

Here is a peak at some decorations.....hopefully I can get my act together and participate in Kelly's Korner Christmas Tour of Homes next week.

Happy Fall

I am enjoying this beautiful weather we are having in North Florida.  Still warm in the middle of the day, but the mornings and evenigs are so much cooler!!

It still has not been cool enough for me to be comfortable with placing pumpkins on the porch...so the faux ones it is!  Hey, my Mom told me they looked real to her...but I think that was her view from the driveway, and she probably did'nt have her glasses on.

No football this weekend for Clint or the Gators!   However, I am sure the TV will be broadcasting other (especially SEC) games!   Maybe we can get some more "honeydos" accomplished!

Think I might enjoy some time swinging out here with a good magazine!!!

Audrey's Kitchen

Late, but joining the party.

This is the kitchen.  It gets used a lot to serve Sonny's BBQ take out, sandwiches, cereal, and so on.  These days I don't have much time to cook.  Supper is usually served at 9pm on weeknights because of football or baseball practice.

Here is where the three of us eat each night.  We pull another chair up.  It is just easy, and we enjoy the closeness of nightly talk about school, work, sports.  It is the place we congregate each morning for our bowl of cereal.   It is the place where the boys have been given " a talkin' to".   Family meetings are held in the kitchen, ususally at this cute little table.
I have a cute fall centerpiece.  It was missing when I took this picture.
